Film that gained a story from St Anns Advice Centre wins BAFTA
The film, ‘I Daniel Blake’ has won a BAFTA. The film was made by Ken Loach who carried out research for the film at St Ann’s Advice Centre to understand the problems faced by benefit claimants in the city.
Mr Loach met advisors, staff and people suffering on benefits before starting work on the film.
Debbie Webster, manager at the centre, said:
“We are long standing advisors and he wanted to talk to people who are feeling the consequences and the impact of the welfare regime. He went into the food bank and met some of our clients.
